Sacred Heart of Jesus
 A FRANCISCAN PARISH
established  1875

OUR MISSION STATEMENT:
We, the parishioners of Sacred Heart
of Jesus Parish, commit to continue
our Franciscan tradition since 1875.

We pledge to provide time, energy, and financial resources to communicate
God' message of love and mercy
to each other and to our neighbors.

Spiritual growth is our greatest priority.  Through our ministries we will grow
more vibrant as a community of faith.

We pray for the strength and guidance to
carry out our mission of love and caring.

We entrust our parish to God
who makes our mission possible.

Welcome

Fr. Dennis Schafer OFM

Fr. Dennis Schafer, OFM has been assigned to serve the parishes of Sacred Heart and St. Patrick as Associate Pastor.   He comes to us with a wealth of experience.   He made his solemn profession as a friar in 1975 and ordained priest in 1980.   He served on the faculty at Quincy University in Quincy, Illinois from 1981 to 2002.   In 1998, he earned a doctorate in music at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.   This past year he was on sabbatical in Joliet, Illinois.   For 11 years prior to that, he was involved in Franciscan Formation direction.   He was director of the postulancy program in Joliet and team member of the national OFM Novitiate Program in Burlington, Wisconsin.  He was recently elected to serve on the Provincial Council.

We wish to wholeheartedly welcome him.   We know that we will be enriched by his experience.
